Rules of office romance

There is no doubt that hormones will rise, and emotions will spark wherever there are matured people of the opposite sex.

Bearing in mind that there are rules that guide your activities in a corporate environment, you need to tread softly when it comes to starting a romantic relationship in the office.

1. Know the company’s policy regarding such relationships.

2. Separate it from work: Do not let your emotional attachment to your partner cum colleague get in the way of making business decisions that will move the organisation forward, even when he will be affected negatively or otherwise.

3. Do not gossip: Do not turn your relationship into an avenue for gossip and scheming. Relationships like that won’t last.

4. Keep it down low: Be discrete about the affair. Do not let it be in everybody’s face.
